The Yiddish Club is ready to begin a new season that promises to be their most exciting ever !
At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday September 15, the Yiddish Club is having a dairy buffet dinner at the Center with hot selections as well as salads. The cost is $20 per person. Reservations must be purchased from Gregg Hudis no later than the September 9.
This year's Folksbiene Theater trip will be to a matinee performance on Sunday, November 6, to see Mike Burstyn in the hit musical on 'On Second Avenue'. This show was nominated for two drama desk awards in 2005 and is returning this fall for a return engagement by popular demand. The cost per ticket, which will include transportation to and from the Jewish Center of Teaneck, will be $42.
After the dinner meeting, our next regular meeting of the New Year will be at 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 17 in the Center.
On July 6 through 9, 2006, the International Association of Yiddish Clubs will hold their 10th conference at the Marriott Glenpointe here in Teaneck. Our club has the honor of being selected to be the host club for this conference, which will offer professional entertainment in the evenings, and by day, over 30 workshops and plenary sessions with speakers of world renown in the field of Yiddish. Some of the presentations will be in Yiddish and others in English, so fluency in Yiddish will not be a
requirement.
Since at each Yiddish Club meeting, our agenda includes some selection of the excellent materials the International Association of Yiddish Clubs supplies to their constituent clubs, this opportunity to be involved in this conference that will celebrate the “Coming of
Age” of the IAYC is a particular pleasure.
